Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is a private research university in Worcester, Massachusetts. Worcester Polytechnic Institute was founded by self-fabricated tinware manufacturer, John Boynton, and Ichabod Washburn, owner of the world'south largest wire mill. In the spring of 1891, the course of 1893 stole a caprine animal and used information technology as a mascot.   • Eric Hahn (Class of 1980) is the co-founder of Collabra Software (sold to Netscape) and Lookout Software (sold to Microsoft). In 1997 he became the CTO of Netscape.
  • David Gewirtz (Class of 1982) is a CNN columnist, cyberterrorism counselor, and leading presidential scholar. He was too a candidate for the 2008 Pulitzer Prize in Letters.
  • Karen Casella (Class of 1983) is a software engineer and advocate for inclusion in the applied science manufacture.
